On eBay, you can buy a SquareTrade Care Plan within the first 30 days following the end of the auction, whether or not you’ve received the item. The one thing I’m afraid we can’t do is extend the 30 day deadline...that’s a firm part of our contract with our insurer.

Warranties on Retail items can be purchased within 90 days of item purchase. This applies to warranties with and without accidental damage coverage.

You can get a full refund on your policy at any time within the first 60 days. You can also cancel your policy after 60 days but the refund will be pro-rated.

Our friendly refund policy means you don’t have to worry about taking a risk by purchasing a Care Plan early. If your item doesn’t arrive, or doesn’t arrive in working condition, or you decide for any reason that you don’t want the warranty, just let us know and we’ll gladly refund you your money for the warranty. After all, we’re here to help reduce your risk.

We do not sell electronics – we have no control over your seller’s shipping policies. If you have questions about your item shipment or any other question about the item or transaction, please contact your seller.

Care Plans are available for new electronics and large appliances costing less than $4000, regardless of whether they are purchased through eBay, Amazon, Best Buy, or a local retailer. We also cover used and refurbished items purchased on eBay for less than $2000, including goods such as unlocked cell phones.

We do NOT cover commercial-use items, items purchased in private transaction including Craiglist.com transactions, consumable items such as batteries or bulbs, items sold in non-working or partially working order.

For new, retail items our coverage starts from the date of item purchase. Some part of this period may overlap with the Manufacturer’s Warranty that comes with your item.

Our coverage begins on date of purchase as we provide additional coverage above the manufacturer’s warranty including coverage for power surges, gray market items and item sold by unauthorized retailers that have voided manufacturer warranties.

If you have an issue while the Manufacturer’s Warranty is still in effect, we’ll help you by providing their contact information (if available) - saving your SquareTrade policy for its entire (and far longer) term... essentially giving you two bites at the cookie.

For factory refurbished or factory recertified items our coverage begins upon expiration of the Manufacturer’s or seller’s warranty.

Our warranties cover mechanical and electrical failures occurring from normal use.

Generally if the issue stops you from using your item and the issue happened during normal use of the item, you are covered. You can read about what is and isn’t covered in more detail in our “Learn More” section by selecting “Coverage Details” from the vertical navigation bar found on that page.

Our Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) coverage is available for certain eligible items and must be purchased at the time of the warranty purchase.

For eligible items the option to include our ADH coverage will only be available within the first 30 days following the date of item purchase. ADH coverage contains an exclusionary window and does have a deductable.

ADH does not cover loss, theft or damage due to misuse.

We have specialized national repair depots that handle our repairs and reimbursement evaluations, and the majority of claims are shipped directly to them.

We use centralized repair depots because in-house and in-store repairmen don’t always have the parts they need on-hand, adding to your wait time. Our repair depots look like the places they’d order parts from. We are also proud of our quality, that’s why we give you a guarantee on all our repairs.

If your item needs to be repaired and is too large to ship typically televisions over 37", desktop computers, or major appliances, we will find a shop local to you who will be able to handle your claim. We’ll send someone to your home to take a look... on our tab, naturally. Who it is will depend on the item and the type of issue.

If your item is shippable but needs specialized packaging; such as laptops and flat screen televisions under 37" we will send you a prepaid shipping box and packing materials so that you can securely send your item to us.

If our Warranty Service Specialist determines that your item needs to be replaced or that estimated repair costs exceed the value of your coverage with us, you will receive reimbursement of the current item replacement value (less the cost of any previous repairs made under our coverage).
