Coverage Details
2 years of coverage: The SquareTrade Smartphone warranty covers your Smartphone for up to 2 years, starting on the date of purchase.
Covered Issues: Both accidents (e.g., broken screen or other damage through drops AND liquid damage including full immersion) and out-of-warranty normal use failures (e.g., battery no longer charging or other hardware failures) are covered. We do not cover loss, theft, willful damage or damage occurring through gross misuse.
Deductible: There is a $50 deductible when claiming on an accident (e.g., drops, spills). There is no deductible for a normal use failure (e.g., power issue).
How it works: You can file a claim online or on the phone. Depending on the issue, we will either fix your Smartphone or arrange for a replacement. To fix your Smartphone, we give you free overnight shipping to-and-from our depot and 80% of Smartphones are fixed the day of receipt. If you prefer the convenience of your local repair store, you can take it there and we will reimburse your repair costs.
Repair or Replacement: Based on what happened to your Smartphone, we will let you know if it's suitable for repair, otherwise we will arrange a replacement option.
Older Smartphone: This coverage is restricted to Smartphones purchased in the last 30 days. Older Smartphones can still be covered through the SquareTrade’s App.
Our 5-day service guarantee: We will replace OR fix and ship back your Smartphone within 5 business days of receiving it at the depot. If it takes longer, let us know and we'll be happy to refund the cost of your warranty.

What is covered?
- 2 years of coverage (or more) The SquareTrade Cell Phone warranty covers your Cell Phone for 2 years or more, starting on the date of phone purchase.
- Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) Most Cell Phone failures reported to SquareTrade are caused by accidents. The SquareTrade Cell Phone warranty protects against drops, spills, and other accidents!
- Deductible: There is a $50 deductible when claiming on an accidentally damaged item (e.g. drops, spills). If your issue falls under the standard warranty terms (i.e., a mechanical or electrical failure), no deductible applies.
- Exclusions: If your warranty is bought on the same day as your phone, then your coverage begins immediately, if you buy your warranty on a later date than your phone, then accidents occurring in the first 30 days are not covered. ADH does not include loss, willful damage or damage occurring through gross misuse of the item. The damage must have occurred unintentionally while the item was being used as intended.
- No Coverage from Loss: There is no coverage against lost or stolen phones. You can always cancel your warranty and receive a refund if that happens.
- Extended coverage of the manufacturer's warranty The SquareTrade warranty also extends the same coverage as the manufacturer's warranty. This covers all mechanical and electrical problems that arise out of normal use. This includes most hardware failures and power/charging failures.
- No deductible: If your phone fails because of a mechanical or electrical problem during normal use, there is NO deductible to claim.
- During the manufacturer warranty: If your phone fails while still under the manufacturer's coverage, SquareTrade will refer you to the manufacturer first for issues covered by the manufacturer warranty. This allows you to preserve the full value of your SquareTrade warranty, instead of using it up on issues covered by the manufacturer.
Warranty Service
- How to file a claim Filing a claim is easy and hassle free. Just call us at 1-877-WARRANTY or start your claim online. You will need your receipt, which you can also fax in for safekeeping right after you purchase.
- Repair or Reimburse Based on what happened to your phone, we will let you know if it's suitable for replacement, repair, or reimbursement.
- For reimbursements, we will pay you the replacement cost of your phone, up to a maximum of $529. If accidental damage was the cause of the failure, we will subtract a $50 deductible from the payout.
- Free Shipping to our depot We'll give you a free pre-paid UPS shipping label to send in the phone into our repair depot.
- Our 5-day service guarantee We will reimburse OR fix and ship back your phone within 5 business days of receiving it at the depot. If it takes longer, let us know and we'll be happy to refund the cost of your warranty.

"Highly recommend! Bought a 3 year warranty on a cell phone and after 2 years, the phone stopped recognizing the SIM card. Quick as a flash, SquareTrade sent a postage paid label and within 4 days of me shipping the phone, notified me that they were sending me money via PayPal to cover the cost of the phone! Couldn't be happier!"

"I had never before used Square Trade and was very reluctant, but decided to go ahead. Glad I did. My phone after about 16 months had computer problems and went out. The communication with Square Trade was second to none. Super polite, blazing fast response times and did EVERYTHING they advertise. Communications were fabulous beyond words. I was shocked to have such great and timely service from a company via the interent. I will be and my family will be customers for life. Thank you for helping with my situation on my cell phone. "I recently began having problems with my Ipaq smartphone. I reviewed various forums to see if the problem with the phone randomly turning off was something that a software update could fix. I found that anything I tried did not work. I decided to contact Square Trade and submit a claim. They would either repair the phone or refund me the purchase price. I have to admit I was initially worried about my first claim to Square Trade. My worries went away very quickly. Once I submitted the claim within two days I received an email with a UPS two day return label and directions on how to return the phone. I dropped it off at a local UPS store by day three. By day five they received my phone, according to UPS tracking information. By day six they had reviewed my phone, determined it was not repairable. I received another email informing me that they would be refunding me the phone's purchase price into my paypal account. I had the option of receiving a check if I wished. The day after the last email I received confirmation from paypal that I had received a payment from Square Trade. All done within about a weeks time!!! This was awesome! I have a new phone and YES I took out another warranty with Square Trade they are A++."

"My spouses cell phone stopped working and I remembered that I had purchased a squaretrade warranty. I called them up and explained the situation to them. They explained that I had to ship it to them for them to inspect it. They sent my shipping label and I shipped it off. The told me that it would take 7 business days to complete everything. They were right. No hassels or anything. They refunded me the money I paid for the cell phone. I cannot believe how easy that was. I have dealt with other warranties and they usually give you the run around and the harrasing questions and it may take up to so many months and so foth. Not with squaretrade. They made me feel worry free. The refund was given in the 7 days. All I can say is that it is great to know that with square trade you are really taken care of."

"When my cell phone took a turn for the worst, I remembered I had purchased a warranty from SquareTrade. I contacted a very nice and helpful customer service representative and he took great care of me. He arranged for my phone to be looked at, and it wound up my phone was in rough shape. They issued a refund for 100% what I payed for the phone! Service was extremely fast I called on Thursday, shipped my phone, and my money was in the bank on Monday! Will DEFINITELY deal with SquareTrade again in the future!"
