Steven Abernethy - President & CEO, Co-founder Steve has been invited to speak on SquareTrade's experience by organizations including: the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Commerce, the European Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the American Bar Association, PC Forum, the Global Business Dialogue on E-commerce, and National Public Radio. As SquareTrade's CEO, Steve was selected as one of the World Economic Forum's 100 Technology Pioneers. Steve was also awarded the prestigious Outstanding Practical Achievement Award by the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution for SquareTrade's efforts.
Prior to co-founding SquareTrade, Steve was a management consultant at McKinsey, working with Fortune 100 financial institutions and media companies. Prior to his work at McKinsey, Steve managed the design and construction of several prominent buildings in Europe, the U.S. and Asia for Arup, a prestigious European architectural engineering firm. Steve earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and holds a BS in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic University.
Ahmed Khaishgi - Chief Operating Officer, Co-founder
Prior to co-founding SquareTrade, Ahmed was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company in New York, where he led the team that created the company's internal e-commerce implementation capabilities. Ahmed graduated from Harvard Business School as a Baker Scholar (top 5%), and has an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering. Before business school, he was a systems analyst at Procter & Gamble where he implemented a large ERP system.
Cara Cherry Lisco - Vice President, Dispute Resolution Services Cara has been invited to speak on SquareTrade's experience to advise: the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) the World Intellectual Property Rights Org. (WIPO); The Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern Univ. Conference on Electronic Exchange; Direct Sellers Education Foundation International Consumer Conference; Direct Selling Association Annual Conference; and the National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators Annual Conference.
Cara practiced for four years at Koob & Magoolaghan, where she litigated federal civil rights cases. She interned at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division and the American Civil Liberties Union, Women's Rights Project, and Paul, Weiss Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York. Cara earned her juris doctorate with distinction from Stanford University and her BA Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University.
Karen Hagewood - Vice President, Chief Legal Officer & Assistant Secretary
Prior to joining SquareTrade, Karen was vice president, general counsel and secretary of ACCPAC International, Inc. a majority-owned subsidiary of Computer Associates, Inc. Previously, she served as director and corporate counsel of worldwide sales and distribution for Nellcor Puritan Bennett, a medical device manufacturing and distribution company. Before Nellcor, Karen served as senior corporate counsel and assistant secretary at Hitachi Data Systems, a distributor of Hitachi mainframe computers. Karen received her juris doctorate from Rutgers University School of Law and her bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
John Quinn - Vice President, Engineering With nearly 20 years of software engineering and programming experience, John leads our product technology development. John spent eight years at Oracle Corporation as a Principal Software Engineer. John also worked for The Santa Cruz Operation. He earned his MS in IT and BS at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.

Therese Mrozek Therese is a General Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Weston Presidio Capital in San Francisco. Therese was previously a senior partner with Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison LLP. At Brobeck, Therese was a member of the firm's seven-person executive committee and managing partner of the firm's Palo Alto office. In addition to working with numerous emerging companies throughout Silicon Valley, she acted as primary outside counsel for Cisco Systems and managed their merger and acquisition process. Therese has been named as one of the leading lawyers in Silicon Valley by San Jose Magazine and listed by Chambers and Partners among the world's leading lawyers. Therese has served as counsel to Weston Presidio since its inception. Therese is on the Board of Directors of portfolio companies Apple American Group and SquareTrade and is involved with numerous of the firm's other portfolio companies. Therese holds a B.S., cum laude, from University of California at Berkeley and a J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University.
Derek Proudian Derek brings more than 20 years of high-tech engineering, finance and marketing leadership experience. He was previously CEO of Panasas, a Fremont, California, designer of network attached storage (NAS) systems for clustered Linux servers. Prior to that, he served as CEO of SkyGo, a venture-backed wireless technology firm, and as CEO of Zip2 Corp., which was acquired by Compaq (HPQ) for $300 million in 1999. In the mid-1990s, as a general partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures and as a venture partner at Morgan Stanley Ventures, Derek played an active role as a board member at 15 startup companies. He also led product marketing at NetPower, spent 10 years as an engineering manager with Hewlett Packard's central research lab, and holds two U.S. patents. Derek earned Masters degrees in Business and Computer Science, as well as undergraduate degrees in English and Cognitive Science, all from Stanford University.
Shahan Soghikian Mr. Soghikian is a co-founder and Managing Director of Panorama Capital and focuses primarily on technology investments. In 1990, Mr. Soghikian joined Chemical Venture Partners, the predecessor to JPMP, and currently serves as head of JPMP's venture capital program. Between 1994 and 1998, he was responsible for developing and managing JPMP's European investment team and was based in London. Mr. Soghikian was previously a member of the mergers and acquisitions group at both Bankers Trust, Inc. and Prudential-Bache Securities, Inc. (currently known as Prudential Equity Group, LLC). Mr. Soghikian holds a B.A. from Pitzer College and an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Mr. Soghikian currently serves on the board of directors of AECOM Technology Corporation, Narus, Inc., PortalPlayer, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLAY), and Yipes, Inc. and is a trustee of Pitzer College.
Donald Telage, Ph.D. Dr. Telage was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Network Solutions, the world market leader in Registration and Directory services, and a member of the NSI Board of Directors from March 1995 to December 1999 and remained an Executive Advisor for Global Strategy at Verisign through 2004. Among other historic accomplishments, he negotiated the first fee-based registration agreement between Network Solutions and the National Science Foundation in 1995, was instrumental in the founding of ICANN in 1998, and negotiated the agreement between Network Solutions, the Department of Commerce and ICANN to introduce competition into the domain name market in 1999. He was the founding member of the Board of Directors of the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) whose formation he led in 1997. He recently chaired the Congressional Commission on Online Child Protection (COPA), which delivered its report to the US Congress in November 2000. Dr. Telage has a Ph.D. and M.A. in Mathematics from Clark University, a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, and graduate training in Computer Science from the University of Rhode Island. |
